Listeners of the Colin Cowherd ESPN Radio show heard an interview with Tiger Woods last Thursday (Dec 1st). Tiger Woods told Colin he has recovered from the injuries that has limited his performance over the past few years. He declared that he physically fit and ready to show what the old Tiger Woods can do. He even said he is hitting the ball further now. When Colin asked him if he thinks he can win the next tournament he replied “Absolutely!”
Tiger Woods hosted the Chevron World Challenge that started on Friday December 2nd in Thousand Oaks California. Woods produced some extraordinary shots on Friday on his way to a 5-under 67, giving him a three-shot lead over Matt Kuchar and K.J. Choi.
On Saturday Zach Johnson made an eagle late that gave him a 4-under 68, allowing him to make up a four-shot deficit on Woods and take a one-shot lead into the final round of the final official event of the calendar year in America.
On Sunday Tiger Woods rallied to win the Chevron World Challenge. Tiger buried a putt to cap off a birdie-birdie finish at Sherwood Country Club, closed with a 3-under 69 and beat former Masters champion Zach Johnson by one shot. He finished at 10-under 278 and donated the $1.2 million to his foundation.
Tiger’s last win was the Australian Masters on November 15th 2009. The win on Sunday ended a drought that lasted 749 days. This is Tiger’s 5th win at the Chevron World Challenge.
